Ukrainian Dance

Late last week I saw an advertisement for a Ukrainian dance show to be held on Sunday. I recently counted the days we have left in Ukraine and decided we needed to take advantage of all the cultural events we could before we leave. Landon got us great tickets and we eagerly went to the Ukrainian Palace last night for the show.

There was extra security at the venue, which surprised us--there were MC's--which surprised us, and there were lots of people in their traditional Ukrainian dress--which surprised us. Eventually, I pieced it all together--along with a video--and determined we were at an extra special event. We were attending the 70th birthday celebration of a well-known Ukrainian choreographer. There were lots of speeches, flowers, and applause. Here are a few photos of the evening.

It's back...

The sun has returned to Kiev for the SECOND day in a row! Frannie saw it coming through the curtains and "asked" if I could open it for her. I did! Here she is!

Let it snow....

We got snow last night! It was a big deal because it was enough to cover all the ugliness of winter! It is the kind of snow that when you walk on it, it crunches! That's my favorite kind! As I was sitting in my office this morning, I was distracted by the noisy noisy crows! I decided to try and photograph them, but that proved to be difficult. In the end, I got a couple of pictures. Here they are...

January and the first half of February have FLOWN by. We have been busy with basketball, school work, football, and sickness! Laura is going to Riga in March to play basketball. She will play for her "old" school because they don't have enough girls to make a team--and they are hosting. Laura is excited about the opportunity to play! I will head to Riga with her so I can support her and her teams!

We are heading for a week long break! It should be relaxing. We don't have any big plans except relax! Laura and I will try to get out and take some pictures with my new lens! Stay tuned for those pictures.
